CALL FOR PAPERS: Digital Bodies, Adapted
Presence and Intimacy in Techno-Transition
This special issue approaches embodiment itself as a site of adaptation. Through digital flesh, data and mediated presence, it probes how technological transformations adapt bodies and relations, producing new conditions of intimacy, care and embodied experience.
Scope
Articles are welcome on any aspect of this broad field, but might cover some of the following:
Theoretical approaches to bodily adaptation and digitally mediated embodiment
Adaptations of bodies, presence, and embodied experience through digital technologies
Adaptations binding and generating disabled bodies in relation to digital technologies in accessibility, intimacy, identity, and sexuality
Cultural adaptation of digital bodies and embodied practices across different geographical and cultural contexts
Adaptations of bodies and embodied practices across media, platforms, and physical–digital environments
Adaptations of intimacy through digital technologies in terms of attachments, relational expectations, and affects?
Artistic adaptations of bodies and embodied practices through performance, digital media, and technologically mediated forms
Glitches and technological failures as moments exposing the adaptations of bodies
The adaptation of unconscious fantasies and libidinal investments through virtual and machinic embodiments
